Tropical Vets first came to Atherton after purchasing the former Ready Vet clinic in 2021. This clinic is the north most of our six primary clinics, and is the newest addition to the Tropical Vets group.
We are excited to announce that the clinic will be operating from a brand new facility located at 2 Mabel St, Atherton (as of November 2024).
Overseen by Tropical Vets director Dr. Graham Lauridsen, the Atherton team are a fun and social group, often getting out for social events together.
The Team
Graham started working in Tully in 1996 and enjoys all aspects of Veterinary work in Tropical North Queensland. Working with ‘All Creatures, great and small’, he can never decide which animal species is actually his favourite. He can be out with cattle and horses one day, and in the clinic dealing with a dog with a broken leg the next.
Graham works in conjunction with the Qld Department of Environment on the region’s iconic endangered species, the Cassowary, and has written several scientific articles on their care and anaesthesia. He also travels into Cape York to assist the Aboriginal Shire Councils in improving the welfare of the animals that live in these communities.
Alana grew up in Central NSW. After graduating from Charles Sturt University she worked in New Zealand for a few years before coming home. She then did locum work all over Australia, before deciding that FNQ is the best place to be! Alana loves all aspects of mixed practice and when not at work she’ll be hiking, camping or paddling on a lake somewhere.
Born and bred in Tropical North QLD, Alicia has finally returned to her roots in the North. Alicia joined us in 2021 as our 'internal locum', but is now based in our Atherton clinic.
After graduating from JCU in 2016, Alicia started her career in mixed practice down in South East QLD braving calvings in the freezing cold and learning about real winters. Still nothing puts a bigger smile on her face than delivering calves, crias, lambs, puppies or any other babies she gets to help come into the world! Alicia says she loves the variety of mixed practice and the wonderful people she meets in all of the small-town communities she's worked. She enjoys helping owners help their pets live longer happier lives.
In her spare time you'll find her adventuring with friends or spending time with her family.
